Intertek will attend NACE Corrosion 2015 from the 15 - 19 March to showcase the increased capabilities it can offer to the oil and gas industry through its newly expanded corrosion centre of excellence.
The expansion, which has been driven by major new contract awards worth around £1 million (US$1.5 million), takes the total investment in the Manchester, UK-based site to over £5 million (US$7.6 million) since it first opened in 2008.
Originally consisting of two units with a total size of 10 000 ft2, the facility has been extended twice to meet rapidly growing demand for corrosion testing services. Now covering 27 000 ft2, it is one of the world’s largest independent laboratories dedicated to corrosion testing.
In addition to Intertek’s attendance at NACE CORROSION, which will take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, Dr Peter Barnes, Senior Engineer for Integrity and Testing, will be presenting a paper to share Intertek’s expertise and recent progression on the subject.
Raymond Pirie, Vice President of Exploration and Production at Intertek, said: “As corrosion continues to present our oil and gas clients with significant challenges, including downtime, loss of productivity and safety risks, we will continue to develop innovative and tailored solutions to alleviate these problems.“NACE Corrosion is an important event for the sector and we are looking forward to showcasing the increased capabilities of our UK centre of excellence this year, as well as discussing experiences and challenges with our industry peers.”
Intertek’s wider Asset Integrity Management (AIM) services will also be represented at NACE Corrosion. Focusing on maximising efficiency and safety while ensuring the integrity of vital systems and assets, the business supports the oil, gas, petrochemical, power, renewable energy, civil and infrastructure fields. It also offers a comprehensive AIM suite of services that combine the understanding of processes and properties with a detailed knowledge of materials and equipment. Services include engineering consulting, risk-based inspection, fitness for service evaluations, non-destructive testing and inspection data management software (AwareTM).
Intertek’s corrosion solutions team will be available at booth 12039 to discuss corrosion challenges and services for the duration of the conference.
