The Oman Oil Company (OOC) is planning to invest over US$1 billion in 2017 on numerous energy infrastructure projects.

The company intends to develop a string of natural gas pipelines, as well as other midstream and downstream projects.

The following lists a few of OOC’s proposed energy projects:

  • The Salalah LPG project – an ammonia project (expansion of Salalah Methanol unit).
  • The Duqm gas pipeline.
  • The Sohar-Wadi Al Jissi gas pipeline.
  • And a crude storage facility at Ras Al Markaz (near Duqm).

One of the most anticipated infrastructure projects is the natural gas pipeline from Saih Nihayda to Duqm SEZ.

Isam Al Zadjali, Chief Executive Officer of OOC, stated that along with construction of the pipeline projects, the company’s “plan is to build another crude oil storage facility in Ras Markaz.”

These investments arose after Oman’s 2016 oil production reached an all-time high of 1 004 300 bpd, a 2.6% increase from the country’s average.
