A leading consultancy has been appointed to deliver a package of specialist services for one of the UK’s most significant proposed hydrogen infrastructure projects.

Fisher German will be providing strategic land access and valuation advice around Cadent’s planned H2East pipeline, which will run from Immingham in the Humber to Newark in Nottinghamshire and form a key part of the UK’s emerging hydrogen gas network.

The contract will see teams from Fisher German’s Newark and Doncaster offices provide specialist land rights advice, land referencing services, valuation advice, and landowner management services for the H2East Pipeline on behalf of main contractor Worley, which is leading on front-end engineering design (FEED) and securing a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the project.

If built, the 150 km pipeline will create new infrastructure to transport hydrogen across the North East, Yorkshire and the East Midlands, supporting power generation, steel, and chemical production across industrial clusters.

Once operational, the pipeline is expected to enable up to 11 GW of hydrogen production capacity, which will reduce carbon emissions and create high-quality jobs.

The appointment strengthens Fisher German’s growing involvement in nationally important energy and utilities schemes, as the UK moves towards decarbonising its energy network and developing large scale hydrogen solutions. Mark Gilkes, Partner at Fisher German, said: “Being part of a project of this scale and importance is something we’re incredibly proud of. H2East represents a real shift in how energy infrastructure can support both industry and the transition to a lower carbon future, and our teams are excited to play a role in helping it move forward.

“Projects such as this this rely on careful collaboration with landowners, stakeholders and delivery partners. Bringing together our expertise across land rights, referencing and valuation allows us to support Worley and Cadent in a way that is both practical and sensitive to the communities and businesses affected.”

Fisher German will work on the project for Worley in partnership with SLR Consulting, Murphy, and Camargue.
