After refusing to comment on her position for months, Hillary Clinton has finally broken her silence over the construction of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, stating that she opposes the controversial project.

She stated: “I think it is imperative that we look at the Keystone pipeline as what I believe it is – a distraction from important work we have to do on climate change, and unfortunately from my perspective, [it is] one that interferes with our ability to move forward with all other issues. Therefore I oppose it.”

As a result, May Boeve, the Director of 350.org, stated: “Today’s news is a huge win for our movement, and ups the pressure even more on President Obama to reject the Keystone pipeline once and for all.”
