Further to our story on the EIA's IEO2023 projections, Faris Churcher, Business Lead for Gas & Energy Transition at Oxford Flow, the valve solutions provider, has released their reaction to the IEA’s new report on the imperative of cutting methane emissions of fossil fuels to meet climate goals.
“This latest IEA report demonstrates an urgent need to reduce methane emissions, now.
Today, 75% of methane emissions from oil and gas could be abated by technology that exists right now. Valves, for example, are an often-overlooked contributor of emissions and they could play a significant, industry changing role in the race to cut emissions.
Our goal was to create solutions that not only eliminate emissions, but go beyond that to enable the energy transition by getting ahead of the problem. If we are to meet climate targets and capitalise on the wider benefits of cutting emissions outlined in this IEA report, we need to think about every aspect of our energy systems and how we can make those changes now to better our future.”
