On Monday 5 December, Yemen’s only gas export pipeline was attacked by suspected al Qaeda militants.
The explosion took place in the southern province of Shabwa, in the al-Uqla desert area.
As a result of the attack, gas now cannot reach the Balhaf export terminal on the Arabian Sea, which was being transported from Yemen’s gas-producing region of Marib.
It has been rumoured that the explosion occurred due to differences between the mercenary leaders and the terrorist organisations, regarding excessive re-producing and exporting oil.
