The American Petroleum Institute (API), in co-ordination with sister trades, has introduced an Assessment Programme geared to help pipeline operators assess their management systems in alignment with API Recommended Practice 1173 – Pipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS). This industry-led programme will help operators benchmark their programmes with industry-qualified assessors, whose goal is to help a site identify their opportunities for improvement and to share good practices seen across the industry.

In extreme environments, a robust PSMS and an associated risk assessment process is key in assuring your pipeline system’s integrity. As with any assessment, the Pipeline Third-Party Assessment Programme can help your sites and your leadership implement robust risk management programmes to both identify and mitigate risks associated with operating in these environments, in alignment with the requirements of RP 1173.
